Montana State Flag

A flag is often an amalgam of anecdotes that tell the history of a state.

You will find below the description and explanation for the symbols of the flag of Montana.

The flag of Montana was adopted in 1881. It consists of a blue background on which is inscribed the name of the State in golden letter, and sea of Montanal in the center. Like many federal states like Indiana, Montana has chosen to refer to the blue present on USA flag. It is a strong sign of belonging to the nation. As its name suggests, Montana was a territory long occupied by the Spanish, which explains its motto, which appears in the lower band, written in this language: "Oro y plata": "Gold and Silver", that were the main wealth of Montana. A shovel and a pick in the arms are drawn to emphasize the mineral and agricultural resources of the State. Montana has joined the United States on 4 July 1890. The Montana is known as the "Treasury State", and its capital is Helena.
