Gabon Flag
The explanation for the symbols of the Gabonese Flag
Gabon's flag was adopted August 9, 1960. It is composed of three stripes, arranged horizontally, green - yellow - blue. Heraldic symbolism associated with these colors is simply related to the country and its geography : the green symbolizes the forests present on a large part of the territory, yellow is for the sun and, through it, land and agriculture, and blue is for ocean. It should be noted that the previous flag, when the French occupied the country, was almost similar to that of today, unlike the French flag was represented in the canton.
