The explanation for the symbols of the Maltese Flag

Flag of Malta was adopted on 21 September 1964. It consists of two vertical bands: white at the hoist* and red at the wind. In the canton is drawn a George’s Cross. This latter was created by George VI of England to reward acts of bravery, loyalty, and dedication to the fatherland. It dates from the Second World War, and was intended to reward mostly civilian and military resistants against the German blitz. The country knew several colonizers. French, firts, with Napoleon, then English in 1814. The island of Malta became independent in 1964.
