Lebanon Flag

The explanation for the symbols of the Lebanese Flag

The flag of Lebanon was adopted on 24 November 1961. It is composed of three horizontal stripes: red - white - red, with a green cedar in the center. These colors relate to the blood shed by the separatist leaders for the country's liberation (red), and the ensuing peace (white). Cedar is a leban symbol because it is a very present tree on the territory. It also symbolizes the natural wealth of the country. It was already used while the French occupied the country until 1943. It was then placed in the center of the blue - white - red flag.
