Cameroon Flag

The explanation for the symbols of the Cameroonian Flag

The flag of Cameroon was adopted on 20 May 1975. It consists of three vertical stripes : green - red - yellow with a yellow five-pointed star centered in the red band. These colors are traditionally used by African states since these are the pan-African colors. These come from the flag of Ethiopia, who was the only independent state in the general dismantling of Africa. The colors red, black and green are normally officially those chosen for the continent, but they are much less used than the colors present here. Green represents here the South forests, yellow North savannah ,while red evokes the blood shed by the separatists. The star is called "star of unity".
