Estonia Flag
The explanation for the symbols of the Estonian Flag
The flag of Estonia was adopted on 21 November 1918. It is composed of three horizontal stripes of equal width : blue - black - white. He originally belongs to a group of students from the University of Tartu. The tradition is indeed that Estonian students gather in communities and choose a rallying sign. The flag quickly became a strong nationalist symbol, and extended throughout the country. When declaring the country's independence in 1918, it will naturally be chosen to represent the national flag. He came back in 1990 when Estonia regained its independence after the Soviet period. It is locally called "sinimustvalge".
