Belarus Flag
The explanation for the symbols of the Belarusian Flag
The flag of Belarus was adopted in this form in 1991. It takes most of parts present during the Soviet domination of this country. It consists of two horizontal stripes, red top and green bottom, the red being twice as wide as the green. At the hoist, a vertical border, reversing the colors, an ornamental design already used previously. The significant difference with the Soviet period is due to the withdrawal of the hammer and sickle on the red band, communist symbols should then be abolished.
